We’re In Our AI Music Era

SPOTIFY BASIC OR PREMIUM, July 30, 2024 — On this day in history, the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger was born, the island nation of Vanuatu gained independence and Superside officially entered its AI music era with its debut album Make it Pop Vol. 1 now streaming on Spotify.

What began as a playful “What if?” between colleagues, quickly transformed into a “Hell, yes!” passion project exploring the rapidly evolving potential of generative AI. The result: An album that spans multiple genres and captures the timeless ennui of modern creative professionals.

The fact that you can spin up campaigns like this one, which historically hasn’t been possible without spending thousands upon thousands of dollars, is inspiring.

Achieve AI Excellence

Take a quick quiz to assess your readiness and learn how to empower your team and strategically integrate AI into your workflows—in order to make the most of this transformative technology.

11 Tracks, 1 Universal Experience

Capturing the rollercoaster of the creative process, laced with questionable humor and turbocharged by AI, the album includes reality-tinged titles like the heart-wrenchingly beautiful Agency Breakup Song, the elegantly introspective Elegy for Comic Sans and the classically country Creative Bottleneck Blues.

It’s our way of connecting with and giving back to the creative community. We all share this common deadline-fueled existence that we love, and sometimes hate, all at the same time.

We Used AI & a Lot of Humanity, Too

We brainstormed, delving into the world we know best, the creative industry. As the catharsis began, we realized how relatable so many situations were.

While we used a range of AI text, audio, video and image tools throughout the project to explore possibilities, it took a human and machine working in harmony to get the best results. You can do hundreds of versions of something really quickly, but it takes instinct to know what’s right.

In the end, we created something that speaks to every creative out there who's ever stared at a blank page, wondering where to start. It's our story, amplified by AI, but unmistakably human at its core.

Inspiring Genius? We’re With the Band

A dynamic creative partner helping hundreds of the world’s top brands belt out hit performances, Superside knows the highs and lows of the journey from inspiration to getting in front of audiences.

In less than 12 months, we’ve radically redefined ourselves as a leading AI-powered creative partner, saving our customers more than $1.5 million dollars in design costs and counting. But, the more things change, the more a shared experience matters.

Balancing persistent deadlines with limited capacity is nothing new. When you add embracing an entirely new and all-encompassing technological revolution into the mix, you might as well find inspiration in the lamentation.

While there may be ups and downs, as long as we celebrate our humanity and embrace our creativity we'll always find that spark. Just ask this group of closet musicians who never thought they’d be streaming on Spotify.

Warning: While intended for work, some of the lyrics may be considered NSFW. However, when the logo has to pop, sometimes the f-bombs have to fly.

What to Expect as an International Founder at Y Combinator

We had just arrived at sunny Silicon Valley from the snow country – Norway – as the first Norwegian startup accepted into the prestigious Y Combinator. Everybody back home was cheering for us. Our startup, Superside (formerly known as Konsus), (a platform for outsourcing business tasks to a pre-vetted team of experts) had been accepted into the Spring (W16) batch of YC. We had applied all the way from Norway, where Konsus was launched just a few months earlier, and we had started seeing good traction of 10 percent weekly growth.

How We Got into Y Combinator

It was one of those moments you can never forget. It was the evening after the 10-minute interview for which we had traveled over 5000 miles, all the way from Norway. We had heard stories about how if you receive a phone call before 8, meant you’re in - and a late email meant you’re out. Well, it was now over 9 and we still hadn’t heard anything.

Superside 101: Our Startup Story

Launched in late 2015, Superside (formerly known as Konsus) today provides an on-demand creative service for close to 3,000 companies. After joining Y Combinator in January 2016, growth accelerated to more than 10% weekly and Superside has been growing rapidly ever since. The Internet has made it easier than ever for companies to grow yet – until recently – tech for productivity has stalled. According to the Harvard Business Review, 40 percent of office time is spent on routine tasks such as PowerPoint, data entry and proofreading. These tasks can be time-consuming for employees, and require skill sets that cannot be automated.
